Knowing God More than Following Rules

God desires our faith to be founded on knowing Him personally and not merely on keeping outward rules.

Reflection

It is possible to be familiar with the things of God and still lack a deep relationship with Him. Religiosity can lead us to focus so much on rules, traditions, or outward practices that we forget the main purpose: knowing God and walking with Him. Jesus taught that eternal life consists of knowing the Father and the Son, showing that true faith is born from a personal relationship. Rules have a place when they reflect God’s will, but they must never replace love, fellowship, and transformation of the heart. The Lord is not looking for people who merely fulfill requirements, but for children who desire to know Him, love Him, and live according to His purpose. As our relationship with God grows, obedience stops being a burden and becomes a response of love toward the One who saved us.

Beloved Father, thank You because You allow me to draw near to You and know You personally. Help me not reduce my faith to rules or outward practices, but seek a true relationship with You.
