Developing the Habit of Reading the Bible

5 min read
Psalm 1:2

Developing the habit of reading the Bible helps us remain connected to God and strengthen our spiritual lives each day.

Reflection

The habits we cultivate shape the way we live, and Bible reading is one of the most important spiritual habits for growing in our relationship with God. We will not always have the same motivation or amount of time, but discipline helps us remain firm even when circumstances change. The psalmist describes the person who delights in God’s Word and meditates on it continually. Creating a Bible-reading habit does not mean fulfilling an obligation, but developing a growing desire to know God and hear His voice. Over time, consistent reading of Scripture strengthens our faith, renews our thoughts, and helps us live according to the Lord’s principles.

Practical application

Reflect today on the importance of establishing a consistent time to draw near to God through His Word.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because Your Word is a source of life and direction for me. Help me develop discipline and consistency to seek You each day through Scripture. Remove the distractions that keep me from that time with You and awaken within my heart a genuine desire to know You more. May reading Your Word become an essential part of my life and help me grow spiritually. Amen.

To reflect on

Am I cultivating a consistent habit of reading the Bible, or am I allowing other priorities to take the place of my time with God?
