Growing in the Knowledge of God
Knowing God is an ongoing process that transforms our lives and leads us to walk increasingly closer to His purpose.
Reflection
Spiritual growth does not consist only of learning more information about God, but of knowing Him deeply and personally. Paul prayed for believers to increase in the knowledge of God, showing that this relationship should continually advance. Knowing God changes the way we think, our priorities, and the way we live. When we know His character, we learn to trust His faithfulness more, obey His ways, and rest in His promises. Many times, we can become accustomed to superficial faith in which we know about God but do not allow that knowledge to transform our hearts. Yet Jesus taught that eternal life consists of knowing the Father and the Son, revealing that relationship with God is at the center of our faith. Growing in the knowledge of God requires time in His Word, prayer, and a willingness to allow Him to reveal who He is. As we know the Lord more deeply, our lives begin to bear fruit and our character becomes more like Christ’s. True knowledge always produces transformation.
Practical application
Find time today to read God’s Word with the purpose of knowing His character more deeply and not merely acquiring information.
Prayer
Beloved Father, thank You because You allow me to know You and draw near to You. Help me grow in a deeper relationship with You and not remain with only a superficial knowledge of Your truth. Open my understanding to comprehend Your character, ways, and will. May I love You more each day, trust You more fully, and reflect Christ more clearly in the way I live. Transform my heart through the knowledge of who You are and allow my life to produce fruit that glorifies You. Amen.
