Christ Builds His Church
The church belongs to Christ, and He is the One who sustains, guides, and builds it according to His eternal purpose.
Reflection
From the moment Jesus announced that He would build His church, He made it clear that this work does not depend only on human effort, but on His power and authority. The church is not merely an organization formed by people, but a spiritual work belonging to Christ. He is the foundation, the leader, and the One who sustains His people through time. Throughout history, the church has faced difficulty, persecution, and challenges, but Jesus’ promise remains firm: nothing can destroy what He is building. This reminds us that our confidence should not be placed in human structures, personal ability, or temporary circumstances, but in Christ. As members of His church, we have the responsibility to participate in His work, serve faithfully, and live according to His calling while recognizing that true growth comes from Him. Jesus formed His disciples, prepared them, and sent them with a mission, showing that the church exists to reflect His kingdom and proclaim His truth. When Christ occupies the center, the church finds direction, unity, and purpose.
Practical application
Reflect on how you are participating in Christ’s work and find a specific way to contribute to the growth of His church.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You because Your church is in Your hands and because You are the One who sustains and guides it. Help me trust more in Your power and less in my own abilities. Forgive me for the times I have viewed the church only from a human perspective and forgotten that it belongs to You. Teach me to serve with humility, faithfulness, and love, knowing that every effort made for Your glory has purpose. May my life contribute to the building of Your church, and may You always remain the center of everything we do. Amen.
