Christ Deserves Preeminence

Christ does not seek to occupy merely an important place in our lives; He deserves first place in absolutely everything.

Reflection

The word preeminence means having the highest place, absolute priority, and the position of greatest importance. Paul declares that this place belongs to Christ because He is Lord of creation, the church, and our lives. Yet many times, we can affirm that Jesus is important while keeping other areas under our own control. We may give Him time, but not always our decisions; we may speak about Him, but not always allow Him to govern our hearts. Recognizing Christ’s preeminence means surrendering every aspect of our existence to Him: our plans, relationships, resources, talents, and dreams. Jesus did not come to be an addition to our lives, but to become the center from which everything finds its true purpose. When Christ occupies first place, everything else begins to come into order according to God’s will.

Practical application

Examine today which area of your life still needs to recognize Christ’s preeminence and surrender it to Him in prayer.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, I recognize that You are worthy of first place in my life. Forgive me for the times I have given You importance with my words but kept areas where I have not allowed You to rule. Help me completely surrender my heart before You. May my decisions, priorities, and desires align with Your will, and may my entire life declare that You are my Lord. Amen.
