Christ Our Passover

5 min read
1 Corinthians 5:7

Jesus is the perfect fulfillment of the Passover, the Lamb of God who brings us true deliverance from sin.

Reflection

The celebration of Passover in the Old Testament remembered how God delivered Israel from slavery in Egypt through the blood of the lamb. That story pointed toward a much greater reality that would be fulfilled in Jesus Christ. He is our Passover because through His sacrifice He freed us from a deeper slavery: sin and separation from God. The blood of the lamb in Egypt protected the people from death, but the blood of Christ brings eternal salvation. Jesus did not come merely to improve our lives; He came to rescue us completely and bring us into a new relationship with God. This truth reminds us that our spiritual freedom had a very high price: the voluntary sacrifice of the Son of God. Therefore, our response should be gratitude, worship, and a life surrendered to the One who gave us true freedom.

Practical application

Read about the Passover in Exodus 12 and meditate on how that story points to the work of Christ.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because Jesus Christ is my true Passover and because through Him I received deliverance and new life. Help me remember the price of my salvation and value Christ’s sacrifice more deeply. May I never forget that I was rescued by love and that my life now belongs to the One who gave His life for me. Teach me to live with gratitude and worship before You. Amen.

To reflect on

Am I living gratefully for the freedom Christ purchased, or have I forgotten the price of His sacrifice?
