God Is Our Refuge in Distress
God is our secure refuge in moments of distress, fear, and anxiety because His presence sustains us when our strength is insufficient.
Reflection
Distress can appear at different moments in life and make us feel that difficulties are too great for us. Yet the Bible reminds us that God is not a distant refuge, but a present help in the midst of our struggles. The psalmist declares that the Lord is our shelter and strength, showing that we can find security even when circumstances seem unstable. Anxiety often leads us to seek solutions only through our own strength, but God invites us to draw near to Him and rest in His care. His presence does not always remove problems immediately, but it gives us the strength we need to walk through them with hope. When we make God our refuge, our hearts find stability because we know we do not face difficulty alone. He remains firm when everything around us seems to change.
Practical application
Reflect today on the situations causing you distress and remember that God is still your refuge and strength.
Prayer
Beloved Father, thank You because You are my refuge in difficult moments and because Your presence sustains me when my strength grows weak. Help me run to You before allowing anxiety to control my heart. Remind me that I am not alone and that You remain near in every trial. Strengthen my faith, calm my thoughts, and teach me to trust Your care. May my life find security in You, and may I rest in the assurance that You are my help at all times. Amen.
