God Thinks Good Thoughts Toward His Children
God does not view our lives according to our present limitations, but according to the purpose He is forming in us.
Reflection
We are very good at remembering our mistakes, weaknesses, and the areas where we still need to grow. Many times, our perception of ourselves is marked by the past or by the opinions of other people. Yet God looks at His children from a different perspective. He knows our entire story and sees what He is still forming in us. When God spoke to the people of Israel in the midst of exile, He did not ignore their pain or deny their difficulties, but reminded them that His thoughts toward them were thoughts of peace and hope. This teaches us that God’s love does not depend on a particular season of our lives. He can work even in difficult moments to fulfill His purposes. Knowing that God thinks good thoughts toward us does not mean we do not need transformation, but that our identity is based on His love and not on our failures.
Practical application
Write down one truth God says about you in His Word and use it to replace a negative thought you have had about yourself.
Prayer
Beloved Father, thank You because Your thoughts toward me are filled with love and purpose. Forgive me for the times I have allowed my mistakes, fears, or the opinions of others to define my identity. Help me see myself as You see me and remember that You are still working in my life. Strengthen my hope and teach me to walk trusting that Your plans for me are good. Amen.
