The Bible presents love not as a mere feeling, but as a committed decision that seeks the good of another person. In marriage, this love protects the covenant because it is willing to remain firm, forgive, serve, and care for the relationship even in difficult moments. Paul describes true love as patient, kind, and persevering, showing that faithfulness requires more than passing emotions. Many times, unfaithfulness begins when the bond is neglected, communication is lost, or other things are allowed to occupy the place that belongs to the commitment. The love that comes from God seeks to strengthen unity and protect what He established. Christ is the greatest example of sacrificial love because He gave His life for us. When we learn to love according to that same model, our relationships reflect God’s character and become stronger in the face of difficulty.

Beloved Father, thank You because You are the source of true love. Help me love with patience, commitment, and faithfulness. Teach me to protect my relationships and not allow selfishness or neglect to weaken the covenants I have made. Forgive me for the times I have not loved as You desire. Form within me a heart willing to serve, forgive, and remain steadfast. May the way I love reflect Christ’s sacrificial love. Amen.
