Repentance is much more than feeling sorrow for having done something wrong; it involves a deep change of direction in which a person recognizes their sin, turns toward God, and seeks to live according to His will. The Bible shows that God does not merely desire us to acknowledge our mistakes, but to experience real transformation of the heart. Peter called the people to repent and turn back so their sins could be forgiven, showing that repentance is connected with a complete restoration of our relationship with God. Many times, we try to hide or justify our failures, but God’s grace invites us to draw near with humility and sincerity. Repentance is not a sign of defeat, but evidence that God is working within us. When we recognize our need for Him, we find mercy and the opportunity to begin again.
