The Husband as a Servant in the Home
A husband after God’s heart understands that his primary calling is to serve in love by following Christ’s example.
Reflection
Leadership within the home, according to God’s design, begins with an attitude of service. Jesus taught that the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and give His life for others. This principle transforms the way we understand the husband’s role because true spiritual authority is not exercised by seeking personal benefit, but by caring for and serving those God has entrusted to him. A serving husband seeks his family’s well-being and is willing to listen, support, and walk beside his wife and children. Service within the home is demonstrated through small daily actions: showing love, taking responsibility, offering support, and reflecting Christ’s character. When a husband serves humbly, he creates an environment where the family can grow in love and unity.
Practical application
Reflect today on how you are serving within your home and ask God how you can love your family more through specific actions.
Prayer
Beloved Father, thank You because Jesus taught us the true meaning of service and humility. Help me follow His example within my home by leaving selfishness behind and always seeking my family’s well-being. Teach me to serve with love, patience, and willingness, even in tasks that often go unnoticed. May my leadership be an expression of care and surrender, and may those beside me experience Your love through my actions. Amen.
