The Son of Man Came to Serve

Christ showed us that true greatness is not found in being served, but in giving our lives out of love for God and others.

Reflection

In a world where greatness is often measured by position, recognition, or authority, Jesus presented a completely different vision. Although He was the Son of God, with all authority and glory, He chose the position of a servant and gave His own life as a ransom for us. His service was not merely an occasional action, but the continual expression of His character. Jesus cared for those in need, healed the sick, taught with compassion, and ultimately gave His life on the cross. As followers of Christ, we are called to adopt that same attitude. Serving does not mean losing our value, but reflecting the heart of the One who created us. Many times, we seek recognition before being willing to serve, but Jesus teaches us that true love seeks the good of others even when no one sees it. Christian service is born from understanding how much we have received from Christ and responding with gratitude. When we allow Jesus to transform our hearts, we stop asking only what we can receive and begin asking how we can bless others.

Look for an opportunity today to serve someone selflessly, following the example of Jesus.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You because You showed me the true meaning of love and service. Thank You because You did not seek Your own comfort, but gave Your life for me. Help me overcome pride and the need for recognition. Form within me a heart willing to serve with humility, patience, and love. Teach me to see the needs of others and respond as You would. May my life reflect Your example, and may every act of service be an expression of gratitude for all You have done for me. Amen.
