The Call to Live in Love

5 min read
John 13:34

God calls us to live in love by following Christ’s example and displaying His character in our relationships with others.

Reflection

Love is one of the primary marks of those who follow Christ. Jesus taught that His disciples would be recognized by their love for one another, showing that love is not merely a feeling, but a way of life. The Bible reveals that true love comes from God and is expressed through acts of service, forgiveness, patience, and compassion. Living in love means reflecting Christ’s heart in our family, church, and community, seeking the well-being of others before our own interests. This calling is not always easy because it requires overcoming pride, indifference, and personal wounds, but God enables us to love with a love that comes from Him. When we live in love, we show the world visible evidence of Christ’s presence in our lives.

Practical application

Reflect today on how you are demonstrating love to those around you and consider which areas need to be transformed by God’s love.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because You are the source of true love and because You have shown us Your love through Christ. Help me live with a heart filled with love, patience, and compassion toward others. Teach me to forgive, serve, and value the people You have placed in my path. Remove every form of selfishness, indifference, or hardness that keeps me from reflecting Your character. May my life display Christ’s love in every word, decision, and action. Amen.

To reflect on

Am I living a love that reflects Christ, or am I allowing my emotions and circumstances to determine how I treat others?
