Pride Keeps Us from Asking for Help

Pride can make us believe that asking for help is a sign of weakness, but God calls us to acknowledge our need and learn from others.

One way pride reveals itself is through our difficulty admitting that we need help. We may think we must solve everything alone, that asking for counsel demonstrates inability, or that showing vulnerability makes us less valuable. Yet the Bible teaches that wisdom grows when we are willing to listen and receive guidance. God often uses other people to guide, encourage, and strengthen us in our walk. Humility recognizes that we do not have all the answers and that we need both God and the community He has placed around us. Jesus Himself lived in dependence on the Father, always seeking His will. Asking for help is not a lack of faith, but a wise recognition of our limitations and a willingness to let God work through other instruments.

Beloved Father, thank You because You do not call me to walk alone and because You always provide people and resources to strengthen me. Help me overcome the pride that keeps me from acknowledging my needs. Give me humility to ask for help when I need it and wisdom to receive counsel with a willing heart. Teach me also to become someone who supports and blesses others. May my life reflect dependence on You and a humble heart that recognizes my need for Your grace in everything. Amen.
