Purpose in Waiting

5 min read
Psalm 27:14

Seasons of waiting are also part of God’s purpose and allow us to grow in patience, trust, and dependence on Him.

Reflection

Waiting is not always easy, especially when we have desires, dreams, or answers we long to receive from God. Yet the Bible shows us that seasons of waiting are never wasted when they are in the Lord’s hands. God often uses these periods to strengthen our faith, form our character, and prepare us for what He has determined. In waiting, we learn to trust His wisdom more than our own timing and understand that His plans are better than ours. People such as Abraham, Joseph, and David experienced seasons in which they had to wait before seeing God’s promises fulfilled. Waiting can become an opportunity to draw closer to Him and allow Him to transform our hearts while He works on our behalf.

Practical application

Reflect today on the areas of your life where you are waiting for an answer from God and consider how you can live through this time with greater trust and patience.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because Your timing is perfect and because You never stop working in my life even when I cannot see what You are doing. Help me wait with faith and patience, trusting Your plans and not only my own desires. Form my character during seasons of waiting and teach me to seek You more deeply at every stage of the journey. Remove anxiety and fear from me, and allow me to rest in Your faithfulness, knowing Your purposes are always good. Amen.

To reflect on

Am I trusting God’s timing, or am I allowing impatience to draw me away from His purpose for my life?
