The Rest Revealed in Christ

In Christ we discover the true meaning of God’s rest: a restored relationship with Him and the security of His grace.

Reflection

The biblical concept of rest has its roots in creation, when God rested after completing His work. That rest did not mean weariness, but satisfaction in a finished work. In Christ we find a similar truth: He completed the work necessary for our salvation. We no longer have to live trying to earn God’s favor through our efforts because Jesus did what we could never do. The cross represents a completed work, an invitation to stop striving for our own righteousness and receive God’s grace by faith. This does not mean we stop growing or serving, but that we now live from the security of having been accepted by Him. Rest in Christ changes our motivation: we no longer obey in order to be loved, but because we have already received love.

Practical application

Meditate today on Christ’s completed work and give thanks that your relationship with God depends on His grace and not only on your efforts.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You because in You I find true rest for my soul. Thank You because You carried what I could not resolve and opened the way for me to draw near to the Father. Help me leave behind guilt and the effort of trying to earn Your acceptance. Teach me to live from the security of Your grace and to respond to Your love with a life of surrender and gratitude. Amen.
