The Treasure That Remains

Our heavenly inheritance teaches us to value what remains forever above the temporary riches of this world.

Reflection

Jesus taught that there is a difference between the treasures we can accumulate on earth and those that have eternal value. Material things can be lost, changed, or disappear, but what God builds in our lives remains forever. This does not mean possessions are evil, but they should never occupy the place that belongs only to God. Our hearts naturally follow what we consider most valuable, so Jesus invites us to examine where we are making our greatest investment: our time, energy, and affections. Our heavenly inheritance reminds us that true wealth is found in our relationship with God, in the character He forms within us, and in works done for His glory. When we live with an eternal perspective, our priorities change, and we stop being controlled by what is passing away. The hope of heaven helps us steward correctly what God has entrusted to us while we await the eternal reward He has prepared.

Examine what holds the greatest importance in your heart today and ask whether it reflects eternal values.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because You have shown me that the most important treasures are not those accumulated on earth, but those that remain with You forever. Help me not live controlled by what is temporary and set my heart on what has eternal value. Teach me to steward well everything You have given me and invest my life in things that glorify Your name. May my priorities reflect the hope of the heavenly inheritance I have in Christ. Amen.
