The Only Begotten of the Father
Jesus perfectly reveals the Father because He is the unique Son who eternally comes from God and shows us His heart.
Reflection
The word “only begotten” speaks of the unique and incomparable relationship between Jesus and the Father. It does not mean Jesus was created, but reveals His unique identity as the eternal Son who has a perfect relationship with God. Through Christ, we can know the Father in a way we could never attain through our own means. Jesus came to reveal God’s character, showing His love, holiness, mercy, and truth. When we look at Christ, we see the heart of the Father drawing near to us. This truth is one of the greatest riches of the gospel: the infinite God chose to make Himself known through His Son. Therefore, our relationship with God is not based on human speculation, but on the revelation we find in Jesus Christ.
Practical application
Read John 1:14-18 and meditate on how Jesus enables us to know the heart of the Father.
Prayer
Beloved Father, thank You because through Your Son Jesus Christ I can know You truly and deeply. Thank You because You did not remain distant, but revealed Your love through the One who is unique and perfect. Help me value Christ more, contemplate His greatness, and draw near to You with the confidence of knowing that in Him I find the complete revelation of Your heart. Amen.
