Waiting Patiently for His Promises to Be Fulfilled
Waiting for God’s promises to be fulfilled requires faith because His timing is perfect, even though it is often different from ours.
Reflection
One of the greatest tests of our trust in God occurs during the waiting. We may believe His promises, but as time passes and we still see no results, our hearts can grow impatient. The Bible shows us that many men and women of faith had to wait before receiving what God had promised. Abraham received the promise of a son, but he had to learn to trust for years before seeing it fulfilled. Joseph received dreams from God, but he went through a long process before understanding the purpose behind them. Waiting does not mean God has forgotten us; often it is the process in which He prepares our hearts to receive what He has promised. God is not only interested in giving us an answer, but also in forming within us the maturity needed to live according to His purpose.
Practical application
Identify a promise of God you are waiting for and surrender that process to Him again, asking Him for patience and trust.
Prayer
Lord, help me wait for Your promises with a heart full of faith. When time passes and I do not see immediate answers, remind me that You are still working. Free me from anxiety and teach me to trust Your perfect timing. Shape my character during the waiting and help me remember that Your plans are always better than mine. Thank You because none of Your promises fail and because You always keep Your Word. Amen.
