Making a Covenant with the Eyes

Purity requires intentional decisions to protect our eyes and hearts from what can draw us away from God.

Reflection

Integrity often begins with decisions no one else sees. Job understood that what he allowed to enter through his eyes could affect his heart, so he chose to make a personal commitment to guard his gaze. Lust often begins with an image, thought, or desire that is never confronted. Therefore, the Bible teaches the importance of self-control and protecting what feeds our minds and hearts. Making a covenant with the eyes does not mean living in fear, but recognizing that our lives belong to God and that we must guard what influences us. Christ calls us to purity that begins within and reflects a sincere relationship with Him. When we surrender our eyes to the Lord, we learn to see people with respect, dignity, and love.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because You desire to form within me a life of purity and integrity. Help me guard my eyes and thoughts so I may honor You at all times. Forgive me for the times I have allowed images or desires that do not please You. Give me self-control and a heart focused on what is holy. Teach me to see others with love and respect, reflecting the character of Christ. Amen.
