Keep Your Distance from Temptation
Spiritual wisdom recognizes the dangers of temptation and makes decisions in advance to remain firm.
Reflection
The Bible teaches that a wise person does not wait until they are in the middle of danger to decide what to do, but recognizes the risks and acts prudently. Many spiritual falls happen because we draw too close to situations that weaken our will and fellowship with God. Fleeing occasions of temptation does not show a lack of faith, but an honest recognition of our weaknesses and dependence on the Lord’s wisdom. God calls us to establish boundaries, guard our hearts, and make decisions that protect our spiritual lives. Christian maturity includes learning to identify what can draw us away from God and acting before temptation gains influence over us. Prevention is also a form of obedience.
Practical application
Reflect today on what situations may weaken your spiritual life and what decisions you can make to protect yourself.
Prayer
Beloved Father, thank You because Your wisdom guides and protects me. Help me recognize danger before I fall and give me humility to make right decisions. Forgive me for the times I have trusted too much in my own strength and drawn close to temptation. Teach me to guard my heart and live in a way that honors You. May my decisions reflect my desire to remain close to You. Amen.
