Jesus, Our Model of Courage

5 min read
John 16:33

Jesus shows us that true courage is born from trusting God and remaining firm even in the midst of difficulty.

Reflection

Jesus is the greatest example of courage because He faced suffering, rejection, and the cross with obedience and trust in the Father. His courage was not based on the absence of pain or fear, but on the assurance of fulfilling God’s purpose. Before facing the cross, Jesus knew what was coming, yet He chose to surrender Himself in love and remain faithful to the end. This teaches us that being courageous does not mean never having difficult moments, but choosing to trust God even when the road is hard. In our lives, we also face decisions, trials, and situations where we need courage to remain firm. When we look at Christ’s example, we remember that we are not called to face challenges alone, but to follow His steps and trust the strength that comes from God.

Practical application

Reflect today on how Jesus’ example can help you face your own challenges with greater courage and trust.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You for sending Jesus, who showed us the true meaning of courage. Help me follow His example when I face difficulty, hard decisions, or uncertainty. Teach me to remain firm in Your will even when the path requires sacrifice. Remove fear from my heart and strengthen my faith so I can walk confidently, remembering that Christ has already overcome and that His presence always accompanies me. Amen.

To reflect on

Am I facing my challenges with the courage Jesus demonstrated, or am I allowing fear to govern my heart?
