Jesus Is the Perfect Image of the Father

Jesus came to show us who God is, perfectly revealing His character, love, and heart toward us.

Reflection

Many people have different ideas about what God is like. Some imagine Him as distant, others only as a judge who watches our mistakes, and others try to know Him through their own experiences. But God did not leave us to discover Him by ourselves. He sent Jesus Christ, who is the perfect image of the Father. In Jesus we see God’s compassion when He showed mercy to those in need, God’s holiness when He confronted sin, and God’s love when He gave His life for us. To know Christ is to know the heart of the Father. Every word, action, and decision of Jesus reveals what God is truly like. When our image of God is based on Christ, we leave fear behind and begin to relate to Him with the confidence of knowing that we have a Father full of grace and truth.

Practical application

Read a Gospel today and observe what one of Jesus’ actions reveals about God’s character.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because You did not leave me searching for You in the darkness, but showed me Your heart through Jesus Christ. Help me know Jesus more deeply and see in Him Your love, grace, and truth. Correct the mistaken ideas I have about You and teach me to draw near to You with confidence. May my life be transformed as I contemplate the perfect image of Christ each day. Amen.
