Jesus Receives the Worship Only God Deserves

5 min read
Hebrews 1:6

Jesus deserves not only our respect or admiration; He deserves the worship that belongs to God alone.

Reflection

Worship reveals what occupies the most important place in our hearts. Throughout the Bible, human beings were called to worship God alone, yet when we observe the life of Jesus, we find an extraordinary truth: He receives worship because He is worthy of it. The disciples worshiped Him after seeing Him risen, Thomas confessed before Him, “My Lord and my God!”, and the angels are commanded to worship Him. This shows us that Jesus is not merely someone sent by God, but the Lord worthy of all glory. Recognizing this truth changes our relationship with Him. We do not draw near only seeking help, answers, or blessings; we come with hearts surrendered before the eternal King. True worship begins when we stop placing Christ in a secondary position and recognize that He deserves the absolute center of our lives.

Practical application

Pause for a few minutes today to worship Jesus not only for what He has done, but for who He is.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, today I recognize that You are worthy of all worship, honor, and glory. Forgive me for the times I have sought Your blessings more than Your presence or filled my heart with things that belong only to You. Teach me to worship You with my whole life, with my thoughts, decisions, and actions. May I never forget that You are my Lord and my God, worthy of all my love and surrender. Amen.

To reflect on

Am I approaching Jesus only for what He can do for me, or am I worshiping Him for who He truly is?
