Jesus Also Expressed Emotions
Jesus displayed real emotions during His earthly life, teaching us that feeling is not weakness and that our emotions can be surrendered to God.
Reflection
The life of Jesus reveals that emotions are part of our humanity. Although He was the Son of God, He experienced sadness, compassion, anguish, and joy. At different moments in His ministry, we see Jesus moved by the pain of others, filled with compassion for the crowds, and facing moments of deep distress. When Lazarus died, Jesus wept, showing that true love is also expressed through emotion. This reminds us that feeling sadness, pain, or worry does not mean a lack of faith. The difference lies in how we respond to our emotions. Jesus always brought His feelings to the Father and remained obedient to His will. His example teaches us not to hide what we feel, but to allow God to transform and guide our hearts. When we surrender our emotions to the Lord, He can bring healing, balance, and a response aligned with His purpose.
Practical application
Reflect today on your emotions and remember that Jesus understands what you feel and desires to accompany you through every process.
Prayer
Beloved Father, thank You because Jesus knows our emotions and understands our struggles. Thank You because we do not have to hide what we feel from You, but can approach You with sincere hearts. Help me recognize my emotions and surrender them to You so You can guide and transform them. Teach me to respond like Christ, with love, compassion, and obedience. Heal the wounds in my heart and allow my life to reflect Jesus’ character in every circumstance. Amen.
