Praise and Humility

5 min read
Psalm 115:1

True praise recognizes that all glory belongs to God and is born from a humble heart that depends on Him.

Reflection

Right praise does not seek to exalt human beings, but to recognize God’s greatness. The psalmist declares that glory does not belong to us, but to the Lord’s name, reminding us that everything we are and have comes from His grace. Humility is essential to genuine worship because it helps us recognize our dependence on God and give Him the place He deserves. When our hearts are filled with pride, we may seek recognition for ourselves, but when we live humbly, we understand that God is the source of every good thing. True praise directs attention toward Him and enables us to serve with a sincere and grateful heart.

Practical application

Reflect today on the attitude of your heart as you praise God and seek to direct all glory toward Him.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because everything I have and everything I am comes from Your love and grace. Help me live humbly and remember that all glory belongs to You. Free me from pride and teach me to worship You with a sincere heart that recognizes Your greatness. May my words, actions, and entire life honor Your name and display Your goodness. Amen.

To reflect on

Is my praise focused on exalting God, or am I seeking recognition for myself?
