Reflection

The humility of Jesus is one of the deepest expressions of God’s character revealed in the Bible. Although Christ possessed all authority and glory, He chose the position of a servant and gave Himself out of love for us. Paul presents this truth as a model for the believer’s life: our way of living should be transformed by the same attitude found in Jesus. Christ’s humility was not a sign of weakness, but a perfect demonstration of love and obedience to the Father. In a world where recognition, power, and position are often pursued, Jesus showed a different way: serving, loving, and placing the needs of others above His own. Following Christ means allowing that same attitude to be formed within us. True humility does not consist of thinking less of ourselves, but of recognizing that everything we are comes from God and using our lives to bless others. When we contemplate the humility of Jesus, our pride begins to be confronted and our hearts learn to live in greater dependence on God.

Practical application

Look for an opportunity to serve someone today without expecting recognition, following Christ’s humble example.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You because You showed us the true meaning of humility. Thank You because, being the Son of God, You chose to draw near to us with love, service, and surrender. Remove pride and the need for recognition from my heart. Teach me to have Your same attitude, serve with joy, and value the Father’s will more than my own desires. Form within me a humble heart that reflects Your character each day. Amen.
