The Mind of Christ Seeks God’s Will

Jesus taught us that a life completely surrendered to God begins with a mind yielded to His will.

Reflection

One of humanity’s greatest struggles is accepting that our plans are not always best. We want to choose our own path, control outcomes, and select what seems most convenient. Yet Jesus demonstrated a different way of living. Although He possessed all authority, His greatest desire was to fulfill the Father’s will. His life was marked by obedience, not because He was forced, but because He fully trusted God’s love and purpose. In the garden of Gethsemane, we see the depth of that surrender: Jesus faced the greatest suffering, yet chose to say, “not My will, but Yours, be done.” Having the mind of Christ means learning to see life from God’s perspective, seeking to please Him before satisfying our own desires. When we surrender our will, we discover that God’s plans are not intended to limit us, but to lead us into the purpose for which we were created.

Practical application

Before making a decision today, pause and ask God what He desires to form within you through that situation.

Prayer

Beloved Father, help me have the mind of Christ and seek Your will above my own desires. Many times, I want my plans to be approved by You instead of learning to fully surrender to Your ways. Teach me to trust Your wisdom and obey even when I do not always understand the process. Form in me a heart willing to say as Jesus did: Your will be done. Amen.
