Prayer and the Will of God

Prayer teaches us to align our hearts with God’s will and trust His perfect plans.

Reflection

Prayer is not only asking God to fulfill our desires, but learning to seek and accept His will for our lives. Jesus Himself gave us the greatest example when, before the cross, He prayed to the Father that not His will, but the Father’s, be done. This shows us that a mature prayer life learns to surrender before God and trust that His plans are better than ours. At times, we may pray expecting a specific answer, but God knows what we truly need and understands which path is best for our spiritual growth. Prayer transforms our hearts because it helps us leave control in God’s hands and walk confidently in His purposes. When we seek His will humbly, our faith grows and we learn to rest in His wisdom.

Practical application

Reflect today on your prayers and ask yourself whether you are only seeking for God to do what you desire or whether you are willing to trust His perfect will.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because Your plans are better than mine and because You know what I need even before I ask. Help me draw near to You with a heart willing to listen and accept Your will. Teach me to trust when Your answers differ from what I expected and to remember that You always seek my good. May my prayer be an expression of surrender, faith, and dependence on You. Guide my decisions and help me walk according to Your purposes. Amen.
