The Word Is Our Defense

Jesus faced temptation in the wilderness by using God’s Word in response to every deception of the enemy. His example teaches us that the truth of Scripture is essential for standing firm. Temptation often begins with a lie: a false idea about what we need, what we deserve, or what will make us happy. God’s Word helps us identify those lies and replace them with the Lord’s truth. That is why it is not enough to know the Bible superficially; we need to store it in our hearts and allow it to transform the way we think.
