The Parable of the Lost Sheep

The parable of the lost sheep shows us God’s love for every person and His desire to seek, restore, and save those who have wandered away.

In this parable, Jesus spoke of a shepherd who left the ninety-nine sheep to search for the one that was lost. Through this teaching, Jesus revealed God’s heart: He is not indifferent toward those who wander away, but lovingly seeks to restore His relationship with them. The lost sheep represents those who need to return to God’s path, while the shepherd represents Christ, who came to seek and save what was lost. This parable shows the value every person has before the Lord and the joy in heaven when someone repents and returns to Him. It also invites us to share God’s compassionate heart toward those who need restoration.

Reflect today on God’s love for you and consider how you can reflect that same love by seeking and helping those who need to draw near to Him.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because Your love seeks and restores me even when I wander from Your ways. Thank You because in Christ I find forgiveness, grace, and a new opportunity. Help me value the hearts of those who are lost and become an instrument of Your love to draw them toward You. Remove indifference from me and teach me to have the same compassion You have for every person. May my life reflect Your restoring love. Amen.
