The Bible presents sin as a universal reality affecting all humanity. Since the fall of Adam and Eve, sin entered the world and damaged humanity’s relationship with God. Paul declares that all have sinned, showing that no one can consider themselves righteous by their own merit before the Lord. Sin is not limited only to wrong actions; it also affects our thoughts, desires, and the condition of our hearts. Understanding this reality is important because it enables us to recognize our need for a Savior. Many times, people try to justify their mistakes or compare themselves with others in order to feel better, but God calls us to examine our lives in the light of His holiness. The good news of the gospel is that God did not leave us in our condition, but sent Christ to offer forgiveness, restoration, and new life. Recognizing sin is not intended to lead us into despair, but to draw us toward God’s grace and complete dependence on Him.

Examine your heart before God today and recognize the areas in which you need to experience His forgiveness and transformation.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because although my sin separated me from You, Your love sought to restore me through Christ. Help me humbly recognize my faults and not justify what needs to be transformed. Forgive me for the times I have ignored Your holiness or trusted in my own merit. Thank You because in Your grace I find forgiveness and hope. Teach me to live each day depending on You and walking in the new life You have given me. Amen.
