True wisdom recognizes its limitations and learns to listen to counsel that helps us walk according to God’s will.

Reflection

One of the clearest signs of spiritual wisdom is the ability to recognize that we do not have all the answers. The Bible contrasts the wise person with the fool by showing that one is willing to receive counsel while the other trusts only in personal opinion. Many times, pride makes us believe that accepting guidance is a sign of weakness, but God’s Word teaches the opposite: a humble heart is open to learning and growth. God uses people, experiences, and teachings to guide, correct, and help us make better decisions. This does not mean accepting every piece of advice without discernment, but seeking direction from people who walk according to God’s principles. Jesus displayed a perfect attitude of humility by living completely dependent on the Father and aligned with His will. When we learn to receive counsel, our character matures because we stop depending only on our limited perspective. Wisdom enables us to recognize that God can speak and teach us through different means. A teachable heart is a heart that continues growing.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because You desire to teach and guide me at every stage of my life. Forgive me for the times I have closed my heart to counsel because of pride or because I believed I could resolve everything alone. Give me humility to listen, discernment to recognize true wisdom, and a heart willing to learn. Help me receive correction as a tool for growth and not as a threat. Form within me a teachable character that reflects Christ and continually seeks Your direction. Amen.
