Stubbornness Hardens the Heart
Stubbornness can draw us away from God by keeping us from hearing His correction and allowing Him to transform our hearts.
Reflection
Stubbornness is an attitude of the heart that leads us to resist correction, insist on our own ways, and reject God’s direction. The Bible warns that whoever continually hardens their heart against correction eventually moves away from wisdom and the Lord’s purpose. God corrects us because He loves us and desires our growth, but we need humility to hear His voice and acknowledge when we are wrong. Stubbornness is often born from pride, the desire always to be right, or fear of change. Yet a heart surrendered to God learns to receive His correction as an expression of love. When we stop resisting and allow Him to work within us, we experience transformation, restoration, and spiritual growth.
Practical application
Reflect today on the areas where you may be resisting God’s direction and ask Him for a more humble heart willing to obey.
Prayer
Beloved Father, thank You because Your love corrects me and guides me toward what is best for my life. Help me recognize when my heart becomes stubborn and resists Your will. Remove pride from me and give me humility to hear Your voice, accept Your correction, and change what needs to be transformed. Form within me a heart sensitive to Your presence and willing to walk according to Your ways. Amen.
