Eternal Life: A Present Gift
Eternal life is not only a future promise, but a present reality that begins through a relationship with God through Christ.
Reflection
The Bible presents eternal life as much more than endless existence after death. Jesus taught that eternal life consists of knowing the Father and the Son, showing that its essence is a restored relationship with God. When a person receives Christ, a new spiritual reality begins in which they can experience fellowship with God in the present. This new life transforms our priorities, the way we see the world, and our hope for the future. Eternity does not begin only when we leave this earth; it begins when we enter into a relationship with the One who is eternal. Jesus came to give us abundant life and allow us to walk with God now. Although we still face difficulties and live in an imperfect world, we have the assurance that our true life is founded on Christ. Understanding this truth changes our perspective because we stop living only for what is temporary and begin living with an eternal vision.
Practical application
Reflect today on your relationship with God and give thanks that in Christ you can already experience eternal life.
Prayer
Beloved Father, thank You because in Christ You have given me the gift of eternal life. Thank You because You not only promise me a future with You, but today I can know You and walk in fellowship with You. Help me value this relationship above anything temporary. Transform my priorities so I may live with an eternal perspective and not remain focused only on what is passing away. May my life reflect the hope and new reality I have in Christ. Amen.
