Dead to Sin, Alive to God

In Christ we have received new life that enables us to leave behind what separated us from God and walk according to His purpose.

Reflection

Christ’s work not only offers us forgiveness, but also a new way of living. Paul teaches that believers should consider themselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. This truth reminds us that our former way of living no longer has to govern our hearts because we have received a new identity through Jesus. Dying to sin does not mean we will never face struggles or difficulties, but that sin should no longer have the same dominion over our lives. We now belong to Christ and are called to live from that new reality. Sanctification is a daily process in which we learn to surrender our decisions, thoughts, and desires to the Lord. Every day, we have the opportunity to choose what honors God and allow His Spirit to transform our character. New life in Christ is not only about leaving something behind, but about walking toward a deeper relationship with God and reflecting His love in everything we do.

Reflect today on the areas of your life that need to be surrendered to God so you can live more fully according to the new life Christ has given you.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because in Christ You have given me new life and new hope. Help me remember that my identity is no longer defined by my past, but by the work Jesus accomplished within me. Strengthen my heart to leave behind what does not please You and teach me to walk in obedience. Renew my thoughts, transform my desires, and allow Your Holy Spirit to guide me each day. May my life reflect the freedom, grace, and transformation I find in Christ. Amen.
