Born from Above
Regeneration is a spiritual new birth God produces within us so we may live in a new relationship with Him.
Reflection
When Nicodemus approached Jesus seeking answers, the Lord taught him a fundamental truth: to enter God’s kingdom, it is necessary to be born again. This teaching shows that spiritual life does not begin merely through outward changes, religious knowledge, or personal effort, but through a supernatural work of God within us. The new birth represents a deep transformation in which the Holy Spirit gives us new life and enables us to respond to God with faith. Just as no one can produce their own physical birth, neither can we produce spiritual regeneration by ourselves; it is a work of divine grace. Being born from above means receiving a new identity, new desires, and a new direction for our lives. This does not automatically remove all our struggles, but it enables us to walk with a renewed nature and with God’s presence guiding us. Regeneration marks the beginning of a life in which God continues forming our character and drawing us closer to Christ.
Practical application
Reflect today on the new life God has given you and thank Him for the work only He could accomplish in your heart.
Prayer
Beloved Father, thank You because through Christ You have allowed me to experience new spiritual life. Thank You because it did not depend only on my efforts, but on Your grace and transforming power. Help me live according to the new identity You have given me and walk under the guidance of Your Spirit. Renew my mind, strengthen my faith, and continue forming the character of Christ within me. May my life reflect the work You have accomplished in my inner being, and may others see Your transformation within me. Amen.
