Born of the Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the One who produces new spiritual life within us and enables us to belong to God’s kingdom.
Reflection
Jesus’ conversation with Nicodemus reveals a fundamental truth: spiritual life cannot begin only through human effort, religious knowledge, or good intentions. Human beings need a supernatural work of God that transforms their inner being. Jesus explained that it was necessary to be born of the Spirit, showing that regeneration is a divine work in which God gives life to a heart that was separated from Him. The Holy Spirit does not merely accompany the believer after conversion; He is the One who begins and sustains new spiritual life. This work changes our identity, desires, and way of relating to God. Being born of the Spirit means that we no longer live only according to our old nature, but begin a journey of transformation in which God forms the character of Christ within us.
Practical application
Meditate today on the work of the Holy Spirit in your life and thank God for giving you new spiritual life.
Prayer
Beloved Father, thank You because through Your Holy Spirit You gave me life when I could not attain it through my own strength. Help me value the work You have done within me and walk in dependence on Your presence. Renew my heart, strengthen my faith, and allow me to reflect more of the life of Christ within me each day. May I never forget that my new life comes from Your grace. Amen.
