Do Not Trust in Your Own Strength
Spiritual security is born when we stop depending only on our own abilities and learn to trust God completely.
Reflection
One of humanity’s greatest difficulties is recognizing that we do not have absolute control over life. We often trust in our experience, knowledge, or abilities, but the Bible reminds us that true security is found in depending on the Lord. Proverbs invites us to trust God with all our hearts and not lean only on our own understanding. This does not mean God does not allow us to develop abilities or make responsible decisions, but that we must recognize our need for His direction in every area. Many spiritual falls begin when we stop seeking God and start believing we can walk alone. Humility enables us to recognize our limitations and make room for the Lord to guide, strengthen, and protect us. When we trust God, we find stability that does not depend on circumstances, but on the faithfulness of the One who sustains our lives.
Practical application
Reflect today on the areas where you have trusted too much in your own strength and surrender them again to God’s care.
Prayer
Beloved Father, thank You because You are my strength and guide in every stage of life. Forgive me for the times I have tried to walk by depending only on my own abilities and stopped seeking Your direction. Teach me to trust You with all my heart and recognize that my strength has limits, but Your power remains forever. Give me humility to hear Your voice, wisdom to make decisions according to Your will, and faith to rest in Your promises. May my life reflect complete dependence on You, and may I never forget that my true security is in Your hands. Amen.
