Regeneration

Regenerated by God’s Grace

5 min read
Titus 3:5

Regeneration is the work of God through which He gives us new spiritual life by His grace.

Reflection

The gospel begins with a fundamental reality: human beings do not only need improvement; they need to be transformed from the deepest part of their being. Regeneration describes God’s supernatural work of giving spiritual life to a heart that was separated from Him. This work does not take place because we reach a certain level of goodness or accumulate merit before God, but because He, in His mercy, chose to restore us. God’s grace not only erases our past, but begins a new reality within us. The Holy Spirit produces an inner change that affects the way we think, our desires, and our relationship with God. Understanding regeneration reminds us that our salvation is completely God’s work and fills us with humility and gratitude. We are not people simply trying to live better; we are people who have received new life through the grace of Christ.

Practical application

Meditate today on the work God did in your heart and thank Him for giving you new life.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because Your grace reached me when I could not change through my own strength. Thank You because You not only forgave my sins, but also gave me new life through Your Holy Spirit. Help me live aware of this transformation and respond to Your love with obedience and gratitude. May my life reflect the regenerating work You have carried out within me. Amen.

To reflect on

Am I living as someone who received new life from God, or am I still acting as though my former condition defined who I am?
