Be Holy, for I Am Holy

God calls us to a life of holiness because our identity is united to Him, who is perfectly holy.

Reflection

Holiness is one of God’s deepest characteristics and one of the greatest expressions of His purpose for our lives. When the Bible calls us to be holy, it is not merely speaking of following outward rules or avoiding certain things; it is speaking of belonging completely to God and reflecting His character in the way we live. Holiness begins with a transformed relationship with the Lord. We do not seek to live in holiness in order to earn His love, but because we have already received His grace and now desire to honor Him. God, who called us, also enables us through His Holy Spirit to grow in a life set apart for Him. This process means that our decisions, thoughts, words, and actions are shaped according to His will. Holiness does not mean immediate perfection, but a continual direction toward God. As we know the Lord more, our hearts begin to love what He loves and reject what draws us away from His presence.

Examine an area of your life in which God is calling you to live with greater purity and surrender.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because You are holy and because through Christ You called me to belong to You. Help me understand that holiness is not a burden, but a response of love toward a God who transformed me. Cleanse my heart, change my desires, and help me live in a way that reflects Your character. May my thoughts, words, and actions become more pleasing before You each day. Form within me a life set apart for Your glory. Amen.
