Serving like Christ

Reflection

Jesus showed that leadership and service in God’s kingdom have a different meaning from the one presented by the world. While many people seek positions in order to be recognized or receive benefits, Christ taught that true greatness is found in serving. Though He was the Son of God, He did not come demanding privileges, but gave Himself in love and fulfilled the Father’s purpose. His life was a continual demonstration of humility, compassion, and a willingness to help others. Serving like Christ means noticing people’s needs, putting love into action, and being willing to give without expecting recognition. Christian ministry is not based only on activities or responsibilities, but on reflecting the heart of Jesus in everything we do. Many times, we may serve outwardly but with wrong motives; therefore, God first transforms our inner life so that service is born from love and not pride. When we follow Christ’s example, we understand that serving is not a burden, but an opportunity to participate in His work and show His grace to the world.

Practical application

Look for an opportunity today to serve someone selflessly, following Jesus’ example of humility.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You because You showed me the true meaning of service. Help me have a heart like Yours, willing to love, help, and give my time to bless others. Forgive me for the times I have sought recognition or served while thinking more about myself than the needs of others. Form within me humility, compassion, and an attitude of surrender. Teach me to serve with joy and remember that every act of love done in Your name has value before You. May my life reflect Your example and glorify Your name. Amen.
