Serving as unto the Lord
God calls us to carry out every task with a surrendered heart, remembering that our true purpose is to honor Him.
Reflection
The way we carry out our responsibilities reveals much about our relationship with God. Paul taught believers that everything they did should be done as unto the Lord and not merely to gain human approval. This teaching transforms our perspective on service because it reminds us that no effort made with love and faithfulness goes unnoticed before God. Many times, we may feel that certain tasks are small or unimportant, especially when no one recognizes them. Yet God looks at the heart with which we serve. A simple task performed with love can have great spiritual value when it is motivated by the desire to honor Him. Serving as unto the Lord also frees us from constantly depending on the recognition of others. Our primary motivation stops being human admiration and becomes the desire to please God. This attitude changes the way we work, help, and relate to others because we understand that every opportunity to serve can become an expression of worship.
Practical application
Carry out an everyday task today with a different attitude, remembering that you are doing it before God.
Prayer
Beloved Father, thank You because You see every effort and every act of service that others often do not notice. Help me do everything with excellence and with the right heart, not seeking only human approval, but desiring to honor You. Change my motivations and teach me to serve with joy, faithfulness, and love. May every responsibility I have become an opportunity to reflect Your character and glorify Your name. Amen.
