A New Creation in Christ
Being in Christ means receiving a new identity and living under the restoring work God carries out within us.
Reflection
The expression “in Christ” summarizes one of the central truths of the gospel: our transformation is born from our union with Jesus. We are not a new creation because we managed to change by ourselves, but because Christ gives us a new position before God and begins a renewing work in our lives. The old things left behind represent the former way of living separated from God, dominated by sin, and defined by our own paths. The new creation represents a life reconciled with God, with new purposes and a new direction. This transformation is progressive; we still face struggles and processes, but we no longer walk as before. Christ’s power is working within us to restore what was broken and form a character that reflects His glory.
Practical application
Remember today that your identity is founded on Christ and not on what was left behind.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You because in You I received a new identity and a new opportunity. Thank You because Your grace not only covered my mistakes, but began a work of restoration in my life. Help me live united to You, leaving behind what does not reflect Your will and walking in the new life You have given me. May I display Your work within me more clearly each day. Amen.
