United to Christ by Faith
Union with Christ is one of the deepest truths of the Christian faith: our life is now connected to Him and defined by His work.
Reflection
The Christian faith does not consist only of believing certain truths about Jesus; it consists of a relationship in which our life is united with His. Paul described this reality by saying he had been crucified with Christ and that Christ now lived in him. This was not merely poetic language, but a profound transformation of identity. Before, we lived separated from God, trying to build our own path; but when we are united to Christ, we receive a new life, a new purpose, and a new hope. Our security no longer depends only on our abilities, successes, or circumstances because our identity is founded on Christ. Being united to Him means participating in His death to sin and His new life, allowing His presence to transform every area of our being. This truth reminds us that we never walk alone: our life is connected to the One who conquered death and sustains us each day.
Practical application
Meditate today on what it means that your identity is united to Christ and give thanks for the new life you have in Him.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You because through faith You have united me to Yourself and given me a new identity. Help me stop seeking my worth in temporary things and remember that my life is secure in You. May Your presence transform my thoughts, decisions, and desires. Teach me to live each day aware that I no longer walk separated from You, but accompanied by the One who lives in me. Amen.
