Courage to Do What Is Right

5 min read
Joshua 24:15

God gives us courage to make right decisions even when doing so means going against the pressure or expectations of others.

Reflection

Many times, doing what is right requires courage. It will not always be easy to remain firm in our convictions when we face pressure, criticism, or the possibility of losing acceptance. The Bible shows people who chose to obey God even when it meant taking a path different from the majority. Joshua firmly declared that he and his household would serve the Lord, showing that faith also involves making conscious decisions and remaining faithful to God. True courage is not only facing great dangers, but also having the character to do what is right in small daily decisions. God calls us to live with integrity, trusting that His approval is more important than human acceptance. When we choose to obey Him, we find peace from knowing that we are walking according to His will.

Practical application

Reflect today on the decisions in which you need courage to do what is right and ask God for firmness to remain faithful.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because You are the One who gives me strength to live according to Your principles. Help me have courage when doing what is right is difficult or when I face pressure from others. Strengthen my character, increase my integrity, and teach me to seek Your approval before that of people. May my decisions reflect my love for You, and may I remain firm even when the path requires sacrifice. Amen.

To reflect on

Am I making decisions based on God’s will, or am I allowing fear of others to influence my choices?
