Christ’s Love Sought Us

Christ's Love · 5 min read

We love him, because he first loved us.
1 John 4:19

Introduction

Christ’s love was not born as a response to our effort; it came from His own initiative to seek us and restore us.

Reflection

One of the deepest truths of the gospel is that God did not wait for us to become perfect before drawing near. While we were far from Him, Christ came to meet us. His love was not a reaction to our good deeds, but a decision founded on His grace and mercy. The Bible shows this truth through many stories: the lost sheep sought by the shepherd, the prodigal son received with love, and the Savior who gave His life for those who could not save themselves. Many times, we live trying to prove that we are worthy of love, even before God. But Christ reminds us that our worth does not depend on our performance, but on the love He already demonstrated on the cross. When we understand that Jesus sought us, our response changes: we stop living to earn acceptance and begin living from the security of having been loved.

Practical application

Remember today that Christ sought you first and thank Him for the love that took the initiative to draw near to you.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You because Your love found me when I could not draw near to You through my own strength. Forgive me for the times I have tried to earn Your acceptance instead of resting in Your grace. Help me live from the assurance that I am loved by You and that Your love does not depend on my merit. May that truth transform the way I live and love others. Amen.

For reflection
Am I living in an effort to earn God’s love, or am I resting in the love Christ has already shown me?
