Living Under the Lordship of Jesus

God's Authority · 5 min read

And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Luke 6:46

Introduction

Recognizing Jesus as Lord means allowing His will to transform every area of our lives.

Reflection

It is easy to say that Jesus is our Lord, but living under His lordship involves much more than a declaration. It means recognizing that He has authority over our decisions, priorities, relationships, and dreams. Many times, we want to receive God’s blessings without completely surrendering control of our lives. Yet Jesus calls us into a relationship where we do not only hear His words, but allow them to guide our walk. Living under Christ’s lordship does not mean losing our identity, but discovering the purpose for which we were created. When we allow Him to govern our hearts, we find a safer direction than any we could build for ourselves. Obedience stops being an obligation and becomes a response of love toward the One who loved us first.

Practical application

Choose one specific area of your life and ask God how you can submit it more completely to His direction.

Prayer

Beloved Father, help me truly live under the lordship of Jesus. Forgive me for the areas where I have wanted to maintain control and teach me to surrender fully to Your will. May Christ govern my thoughts, decisions, and desires. Give me an obedient heart that not only hears Your voice, but also walks according to it. May my life reflect each day that Jesus is my Lord. Amen.

For reflection
Is there any area of my life where I still say Jesus is Lord while continuing to govern it myself?
