Humility is a preparation God uses to form our character before entrusting us with greater responsibilities and blessings.
Culture often teaches that we should seek recognition, position, and success to prove our worth. However, God’s wisdom presents a different path: humility comes before honor. This does not mean God opposes growth or recognition, but that He desires first to form our hearts so we can properly steward what He gives us. Humility protects us from pride, allows us to learn from others, and reminds us that every achievement comes from God’s grace. Throughout the Bible, we see that God worked deeply in the lives of His servants before leading them to fulfill great purposes. Moses spent years in the wilderness before leading the people of Israel; David was formed in solitude before becoming king. God uses processes to shape our character. Many times, we want to reach the blessing quickly, but forget that the Lord is more interested in who we are becoming than in what we are achieving. Humility allows God to work within us and prepare our hearts to reflect His glory.
Examine which area of your life needs greater humility and ask God to form Christ’s character within you.
Beloved Father, thank You because Your ways are better than mine and because You know the process I need to experience. Help me not seek only positions or results, but allow You to form my character. Remove all pride, comparison, or desire for recognition from me. Teach me to walk humbly, recognizing that everything I am comes from You. Prepare my heart to serve You faithfully and use every opportunity to glorify Your name. Amen.
