Hope › Devotionals › Identity in Christ
In Christ we find the assurance that we are fully received by God, not because of our merit, but because of the grace of His love.
One of the deepest wounds of the human heart is the desire to feel accepted. Many people live trying to prove their worth, seeking approval, or carrying the weight of feeling they are never enough. The gospel reveals a completely different truth: in Christ we are accepted before God. This acceptance is not based on our performance, abilities, or perfection, but on the completed work of Jesus. God does not receive us because we have reached an impossible standard; He receives us because we are united to the Beloved, His Son Jesus Christ. This changes the way we live because we stop desperately seeking the approval of others and begin walking from the security of knowing we are already loved by the Father. Our identity is not born from what we achieve, but from what Christ did for us.
Remember today that your value before God does not depend on your achievements, but on the grace you received in Christ.
Beloved Father, thank You because in Christ You have made me accepted before You. Many times, I try to find my worth in the opinions of others or in what I accomplish, but You remind me that my identity is secure in Your love. Help me live from that acceptance and not from the need to prove my worth. May the security of belonging to You transform my heart and the way I relate to others. Amen.
